This rich area of the northern Milky Way stretches from Cepheus on the lower left to Cassiopeia on the upper right. Numerous bright red emission nebulae, dark nebulae and star clusters can be seen. Hold your mouse cursor over the image to see object identifications.

The large emission nebula IC 1396 is in the lower left corner, next of Herschel's Garnet Star (Mu Cephei).

Open cluster M52 and NGC 7635, Bubble Nebula, are at the right center of the frame. At the lower right is a pair of large emission nebulae, CED 214 and NGC 7822. Large open cluster NGC 7789 is at the upper right corner, two and a half degrees from Caph (Beta Cassiopeiae), the brightest star in the field, also at upper right.

Other red emission nebulae in the field are: Sh2-132, NGC 7380, and Sh2-157.
