This exciting area of sky in Ophiuchus and Scorpius contains all kinds of deep-sky delights: dark nebulae, red emission nebulae, blue reflection nebulosity, and a rare orange reflection nebula.

The Rho Ophiuchi - Antares complex is visible on the right side of the frame with the bright red supergiant star Antares anchoring the region and illuminating the orange reflection nebula.

Barnard 44, the Dark River, stretches across the center of the frame all the way from the Antares - Rho complex to the Pipe Nebula and Dark Horse on the left side of the frame.

North is to the left in the above image.
