Sharpless 2-155, the Cave Nebula, is located in a large faint nebulae complex in the constellation of Cepheus.

The Cave Nebula is a large area of hydrogen emission nebulosity interlaced with dark nebulae. It is located 2,400 light-years away from us on the edge of the large Cepheus B molecular cloud. Hot young blue stars in the Cepheus OB 3 association cause the gas in the area to glow.

VdB 155 is the small blue reflection nebula to the southwest of the Cave Nebula in the lower right corner of the image. LDN 1216 is the large dark nebula above VdB 155.

SH2-155 was cataloged by Stewart Sharpless in 1959, VdB 155 was cataloged by Sydney Van den Bergh in 1966, and LDN 1216 was cataloged by Beverly T. Lynds in 1962.

North is to the top in the above image.
