Sh2-142 is an emission nebula in Cepheus, 2.5 degrees east of Delta Cephei. Its popular name is the Wizard Nebula.

Open cluster NGC 7380 is embedded in this star-forming region. NGC 7380 is also listed as a cluster with nebulosity.

Dark nebula LDN 1200 is seen behind the 8.4 magnitude star TYC 3996-683-1 (HD 215771) at left in the image.

The cluster was discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1787. The nebulosity was cataloged by Stewart Sharpless in 1959. The dark nebula was cataloged by Beverly T. Lynds in 1962.
