NGC 7048 is a circular planetary nebula in the constellation of Cygnus. It is located 3 degrees northeast of NGC 7000, the North America Nebula.

It shines at magnitude 11.3 has an apparent size of 1 arcminute. At an estimated distance of 6,200 light-years, its true size in space would be 1.8 light-years in diameter.

The hot central white dwarf star that illuminates the nebula with ultraviolet radiation has a magnitude of 18.3 and is just barely visible in the original image.

NGC 7048 was discovered by Jean Marie Edouard Stephan in 1878.

NGC 7048 is similar in appearance to NGC 6781 in Aquila, although it is only half as big as the latter.
