NGC 5907 is known as the Splinter Galaxy, or Knife-Edge Galaxy. It is an edge-on Sc galaxy bisected by a dark lane.

It is located 40 million light-years away in the constellation of Draco.

Composed mostly of dwarf stars, NGC 5907 has very low metallicity and few giant stars.

It has an apparent magnitude of 10.7 and an apparent size of 12.6 x 1.4 arcminutes.

NGC 5907 was discovered in 1788 by William Herschel.
