After each individual light frame is calibrated and converted to color, they should be inspected to remove substandard frames (unless you do this automatically with image grading in a later version of Images Plus). They are then aligned and registered. If frames were shot at different exposure lengths or ISOs, they must be normalized or weighted before stacking. (Again, this can be done automatically in v3.75.) The calibrated light frames are then be combined into a master light frame. This is where the true signal-to-noise gains are realized. The results may be subtle at first, but the payoff will be seen when the image is stretched to reveal details that are present, but hidden in the linear file. |
