Barnard 84 is an intricate dark nebula located in the constellation of Sagittarius.

B84 is 30 x 15 arcminutes in size. B83a is the smaller patch of dark nebulosity to the upper right of M84.

B84 is located 2.75 degrees southwest of open cluster M23.

B84 was cataloged by E. E. Barnard in 1919.

Globular cluster NGC 6440 is at far left in the frame. It subtends an apparent angle of 1.7 arcminutes and shines at magnitude 9.1.

North is to the top in the above image.
