After you have finished processing your image, you should save it in an uncompressed file format that preserves all of the data. I usually use TIFF (Tagged Information File Format), it is an industry standard and supported by almost every image-processing program there is.

• Go to File > Save As and the Save As dialog box will come up (Figure 1).

• Give the file a name (Figure 1, Number 1).

• Select TIFF from the pull-down menu for Format (Figure 1, Number 2).

• Check on the ICC Profile. It should be sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (Figure 1, Number 3).

• If it's not, close the Save As dialog box and convert the image to sRGB. Go to Edit > Convert to Profile and select sRGB.

• Click the Save Button (Figure 1, Number 4).

After you click the Save button, you will get another dialog box with more options (Figure 2).

• Select "None" for Image Compression (Figure 2, Number 1).

• Select "Interleaved" Pixel Order. (Figure 2, Number 2).

• Select IBM-PC Byte Order (Figure 2, Number 3).

• Click the OK button.

Other File Formats

There are a couple of other choices for saving images:

• JPEG - is a compressed file format for use on the web and email.

• PSD - is Photoshop's native file format, it is good for saving images with layers as you are working on them.
